Thanks for the help in this question, I too consider, that the easier, the better …
What if a guy you met once has some habits you don’t like per se smoking and drinks, but you have an effortless connection and could talk and be together for hours on and you don’twant th ed date to end because you feel good in his presence? . He’s a gentleman and is emotionally available and has so many other great qualities? Is that an accept or reject right of the bat? And he’s not that hot kinda hunky guy you’re used to being attracted to? I’m not shallow and have been reassessing my wants and needs, but just not sure if I should continue?
Great question Caroline! Let me turn the question back to you. Are his “bad habits” a deal breaker for you? If they are, then it’s time to move on. In spite of the fact that everything else seems to be fantastic, these are traits that you don’t like and (I’m assuming) you don’t want in your relationship. This guy is not the only one with great qualities. He’s just the best that you’ve found so far. My advice is to keep looking. You can try to change him, but then you become a nag and very emotionally and intellectually unattractive to him. Even if you told me that you could live with the bad habits I’d tell you that you’re settling for less than your soul mate relationship. Why? Because you already said you don’t like his smoking and drinking. Don’t settle for good just because extraordinary hasn’t presented himself yet!
