Does God really have someone special for you?
Most people I know would love God to deliver someone special into their lives.
I believe God does have someone special for you. He also gave you free will. This can create a significant conflict.
Many times, the conflict comes in the form of fear. The fear of choosing poorly. The fear of being alone. The fear of not being worthy of an extraordinary relationship. What is your fear?
Most of the time we choose poorly because of infatuation and raging hormones. (These are also given to us by God…go figure! LOL)
I believe God has given you the ability to choose wisely. Your Must Have and Deal Breaker lists will help you step back from the infatuation to help you make good choices.
What I’ve found, based on research and experience, is that nothing happens unless you take an active role in your life.
It’s up to you!
Whether you believe in God or some other force in the universe, it takes more than prayer and positive thoughts. You have to take action.
Books like The Secret teach you to using positive thinking to reach your goals and dreams.
The one thing that most of them don’t teach you is that in addition to massive positive thinking, you have to take massive positive action.
What are you willing to do to find your soul mate?
That’s the million-dollar question. For some people the answer is quite clear…give up. After a little frustration, okay, maybe a lot of frustration, they just quit.
The journey is just too tough for some people. It takes more effort than they’re willing to put in.
Some people are willing to put in a marginal or half-hearted effort. They work at it for a while but if results don’t come quickly, they to get frustrated and give up…or they settle for someone less than their soul mate.
And then there are those that are determined to not repeat mistakes from their past. They are willing to keep going, to keep looking.
They recognize that nothing worthwhile is easy and nothing easy is worthwhile. Do they get frustrated with dating? Absolutely! Do they take a break from dating from time to time? Yes, they do.
It’s important to step back from whatever you’re doing from time to time. You need to evaluate what’s working and what isn’t. You need to pat yourself on the back for all the lessons you’ve learned along the way.
You also need to give thanks. Give thanks for the great people you have met along the way and even for the hard lessons you learned.
God is with you on your journey to find your soul mate. He has someone special just for you. But, you have to put in the work to find him or her. When you do, you will know it and God will truly bless you both.
Your soul mate will be that one special person to enhance your life just as you’ll do for them. In my book Dating Backward, we describe the relationship math as 1+1=1¹?. You’re able to accomplish so much more as a couple than you possibly can individually.
Here are some tips and suggestions.
Make it known that you’re available and looking. The worst thing you can do is to keep this a secret between you and God.
Tell your family and friends and help them understand what or who you’re looking for.
Ask for introductions to people you’re interested in.
Use online dating sites to help you meet new people.
Attend social and charity events and don’t be afraid to go alone.
Sign up for group golf lessons on Sat mornings, go to round robin pickleball, the gym, take a shooting class…or just say Hi and strike up a conversation with the cute guy or gal in line next you.
None of this is rocket science.
Many of these activities can be done for little or no cost. You’ll have to spend some money for others.
The point is to be proactive in your dating life just like you have to be proactive with your health.
When you’re not feeling well God will usually provide the cure through your doctor. He provides these resources for us.
He also provides you with the resources to find your soul mate. It’s up to you to choose and use the resources that are available.
If you’re sitting at home, hiding, and hoping that your soul mate will just magically show up, you’re going to be extremely disappointed in your results.
I hope I’ve given you some food for thought to help you make healthier relationship decisions.
